How safe is Nairobi Kenya? Whether you are coming to Nairobi as a tourist, for business or an expat, you could be asking yourself this question. I will not miss my words. For if you looking for a straight answer, then Nairobi is as safe as can be.
How safe is Nairobi Kenya? Why most westerners think otherwise.
- Wrong information from the media
Nairobi and indeed Kenya has bad reputation worldwide, thanks to the misinformed media news from some media houses. This was better illustrated by hashtag #SomeoneTellCNN by KOT (Kenyans on Twitter). This trended for some time after CNN reported that President Obama was visiting a hotbed of terror. That was reference to the visiting of Obama to Nairobi. Now most of you folks will believe that without checking the facts. Nairobi is not a failed city; neither is Kenya a failed state. Our city is robust place with so many beautiful attractions and so many things to do. It could be safer than your neighborhood.
During my visit to some American city, (I will not mention it), I was astonished at how ignorant the masses can be. Most people out there believe that Africa is a country. Therefore, when they ask is Nairobi safe, what comes to their mind is what they have heard about Africa. Get your facts right. Africa is a continent just as North America is. Kenya is a country with Nairobi as its capital. For your information, Africa has 54 countries. Therefore, what happens to one country, does not apply to others.
Maybe I should list for you here, things you should know before you come.
